Can you get freeview through a sky dish

Aerial is plugged into the BT Youview box. We get ropey reception so can use the sat feed when the aerial drops out. Plan was to just use it for freesat after the year. A lot of those are also on our model of Freesat box mind. All for the monthly price of sweet F all. Sorry for the slight hijack but does anyone know what channels you get on Sky Freesat? Re Skyfreesat, I know it was kind of asked above, do you keep the sky interface and recording facility, which lets face it is still the best interface out there.

I ditched the full Monty multiroom, all the channels, HD etc with Sky rcently and it came to an end a month ago. It was an interesting experience. After phoning the cancel line, I was immediately offered a third off, without any haggle at all. With a little bit of haggling it was a slow day.. The result? We can still see all of the traditional terrestrial channel stuff, but strangely not the HD versions of ITV 2, 3, 4.

Do it now and start saving. PS My son tells me that you can save the free channels in your favourites to make it easier scrolling through them quickly using the blue button. Even if they call your bluff, you have 28 days to change your mind. If you currently have a Freeview TV, the Freeview set top box, a satellite-dish and no aerial for your television then you simply cannot use your setup to access Freeview. This is due to Freeview being accessible only through an aerial means, this therefore leaves a satellite-dish as being incompatible.

Freesat would be ideal if your getting interference from 4G, see here. As we previously mentioned, due to the accessibility settings of the service a satellite-dish is not compatible.

Your Free Guide is on it's way, please check your e-mail now! Advertise your business to nearly , people per month. If you think about it, a satellite dish is an antenna in its way, a parabolic one.

However, that does not mean it can do the same thing. You cannot use a dish as an aerial, though people have ways of repurposing an old Sky dish. Their version of repurposing is to make the satellite dish the mount. You can take out the LNB and attach your clip-on aerial there. Your coaxial cord will run from the TV aerial and not the dish itself.

Now some people claim that you can modify it. Add parts for radio frequencies, and then you are good to go. However, there is no guarantee that this will work the way it should.

You will end up purchasing parts anyway to make this modified version, might as well upgrade your dish. Pair your new dish with an old Sky box to watch your shows. Or do the quick fix for dishes with weak reception by switching out the LNB. You can also look for a TV aerial.

There are many affordable models on the market. These methods are more effective and affordable than modifying anything. Like we mentioned earlier, you cannot connect your satellite to a TV without a box.

The satellite receiver for TV is what decodes and demodulates the signal so you can view your shows. Only TVs that have satellite support for demodulation can connect to a satellite without a TV receiver box.

All these questions focus on making use of what you have without compromising your entertainment experience. If you have an old dish and a Freesat box, why bother with Freeview?
