Stumbleupon why im broke

According to TechCrunch, Facebook is working on a "Like" button that users can click on when they see a piece of content on the web that they enjoy. The new button would go beyond the current "Share" button that lets Facebook users link back to content. TechCrunch is not always accurate, but Jesse Stay, an independent developer who has been poking through the code, confirms that Facebook is working on the function.

Some features of the new Like button will probably include options for publishers to add tags and customize their content for Facebook, and for Facebook to actually suck the content into the Facebook website.

The likely purpose is to help users share and spread content according to both their own and their friend's preferences -- whereas the Share button just pushes out a link. The end-game is turning Facebook into a content node around which the rest of the Internet revolves. They now do very little in the form of paid advertising or marketing.

Advertising on Reddit was the first thing they did. Search engine traffic is near non existent likely due to the short descriptions most products have. The owner Adam has stated that their best converting traffic source is a little known link exchange network called Knowd Source. They have an email list but depending on what design they are split testing sometimes there's no email opt in on the site which is a huge mistake. Being able to send an email out and drive traffic back to your site on demand is an affiliate websites dream.

They have a blog but it's often neglected for months at a time and isn't given the attention it deserves. This could be used to draw in search engine traffic and blog readers who might not really be into the style of site This Is Why I Am Broke.

Starting and maintaining a blog would be key. I could see this being a huge viral success. Basically give away some of the products they feature in a competition where people have to share on social media to enter.

You could reach thousands of interested people and drive them back to your site. Let's now look at ways you can create a similar site Simply trying to copy them straight up isn't the way forward unless you can better their design, improve on user engagement, write better product copy and create better images.

They do this too well for most people to compete. There's already dozens of competitors out there doing similar such as:. A competitor site. The trick is to create a site similar but ' niched down '. All of these sites are promoting much of the same products. And trying to appeal to everyone and anyone with gadgets and cool things from multiple different categories. By picking one single category and focusing just on that you could create a niche site that appeals to one type of person.

You could create a whole site around geeky kitchen items or weird office products. There's no shortage of products and niches that the interactive layout would work with.

A "niched down" similar site. The site isn't reliant on unpredictable search engine traffic and no matter what Google does it will not be affected. It draws in traffic virally from social media with almost no advertising or marketing on their part. And it can work for anyone who uses the concept and design with their own niche or range of products. You can take one of the many categories from the site or it's many clones such as kitchen, home and office, or pet and focus solely on those or apply it to different niches completely.

Follow their lead in terms of product selection, design, user engagement, social media interaction but also put a lot of focus into list building and blogging to increase success. The only key now is to take action Public Feed Topics Authors.

When I first added a link to their site, it gave me quite a jump in traffic but since then, nothing. Always something to learn in the crazy world of social media! I know nothing about SU so thank you Debbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So easy to get caught up in reading new posts.

Thank you! I also had two posts go viral. I found that using the button results in more stumbles, most of the time. But I would love to know if articles are treated differently depending upon how they are added. I would really like to learn more. Thanks Sue. I hope you find the tips helpful..

I love SU because it is so quick and easy to use — it certainly increases my page views — not so much my interactions though?? And I love it when I find something really random and interesting when I hit the stumble button I stumbled this for you tos xx. I have tried Stumbleupon a few times but have not mastered it yet. I did see a spike in traffic the last time I did a stumble share. I like the idea that it gets to know your tastes and then feeds you more of the stuff you like.

Oh dear! Not yet ready to discover the whole new world of SU! Maybe in a couple of months. Dropping by from SITSblogging. This happened to me a few weeks ago, too. I also followed more people, stumbled more, and gave more posts I like a thumbs up.

I observed that more interesting contents and photos get more thumbs up and views. Thanks for the post. None of it led to continued connection, but I enjoy exploring new sites and learning new tips.

So thanks for helping demystify this! Thanks for the tip. Thanks so much for the advice. I really need to get into SU. Thanks for this info! How selfish am I?? I keep meaning to become more active with StumbleUpon, and this gave me the push I needed. Thanks for the great tips! Hi Debbie, Congratulations on going viral on SU.
